Martitec celebrates traditional Moroccan craftsmanship. Our baskets are handwoven from doum (also called alfa, halfa or esparto), an emblematic plant of the arid regions of the western Mediterranean basin and part of Morocco’s cultural heritage.
One fiber, one craft
Doum grows in tufts, notably in the Atlas Mountains near Marrakech. It is harvested from May to July, then dried. Depending on the season and the weather, drying takes more or less time: the fiber turns from green to a golden yellow, then to darker shades if it dries for a long time. This is what gives each basket its color and character.

Custom Basket is Martitec’s personalization shop: you choose the basket and its size, then add your text (a name, initials…) with the font, color and position of your choice. You see a preview before ordering, and your choices are saved exactly as entered in your order.
